Myles Kennedy & Bohemian Rhapsody

0

The hardest working singer in rock music, Myles Kennedy, just released the latest music video for the song “The Great Beyond” from his debut solo album Year Of The Tiger. The new video comes on the heels of wrapping a US tour run with Slash and The Conspirators on the success of their latest single “Driving Rain.” The video is shot in black and white and features performance footage of the song from various stops on Myles’ sold-out summer tour of Europe, a tour that saw him perform the material live for the first time with his backing band from the album: Tim Tournier on bass and Zia Uddin on drums and percussion. You can watch the video for “The Great Beyond” here: https://youtu.be/nXbfZL5kttM and Year Of The Tiger is available now wherever music is sold or by clicking here:  http://smarturl.it/MK-YearOfTheTiger.

Myles Kennedy, not one to spend a lot of time at home, is heading back out on tour of the United States in support of his critically acclaimed debut solo album Year Of The Tiger, courtesy of Napalm Records. The 18-date US tour will kick-off on November 13th in Chicago, IL and run through December 16th where it wraps up in Seattle, WA. Along the way, the tour will make stops in Milwaukee, WI; Cleveland, OH; Hartford, CT and Atlanta, GA among others. The performances will feature music from the critically acclaimed solo album as well as selections from Myles’ work with Alter Bridge, The Mayfield Four and Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. Walking Papers will be openers on all of the dates as well. All shows are currently on-sale and all tour information including ticket links and VIP information for all dates can be found at www.MylesKennedy.com.

On the Year Of The Tiger album, Myles embarked on his first venture as a solo artist by embracing musical elements and influences he hadn’t explored previously in his career. Kennedy himself played banjo, lap steel, bass, and mandolin in addition to guitar throughout the album. The emotional journey and personal story of Myles is captured in a bluesy-americana album with a twist of country and rock, swirling and flowing around the incredible, soulful voice that the world has come to know. As MetalSucks.com declared: “Kennedy is the Robert Plant of our times.”

Myles Kennedy burst on the music scene in 1990, but it wasn¹t until 1995, through his band The Mayfield Four, that he gained some notoriety. It was when the Mayfield Four toured opening for hitmakers Creed that Myles Kennedy would meet Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips. This meeting would eventually lead to the formation of Alter Bridge, the band that would become Myles¹ calling card to the world. The band released their debut album One Day Remains that would end up being certified Gold by the RIAA and the band would go on to sell millions of records worldwide over the course of 5 studio albums with the band. In 2008, the legacy of Myles Kennedy was circling the music industry and eventually found its way to members of Led Zeppelin. A now legendary story, Myles was asked to jam with Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham for a potential project that never materialized. In 2009, Guns N¹ Roses guitarist Slash was working on a solo project and tapped Myles Kennedy to do vocals on 2 songs on that release. That partnership would lead to Myles becoming the vocalist for his other rock band, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. They have released 2 albums under that moniker. This relationship would also lead to Myles Kennedy singing for the iconic Guns N¹ Roses at their Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction in 2012 after band founder Axl Rose was unable to attend. Through Myles’ various projects, he has appeared on The Tonight Show; Jimmy Kimmel Live; Conan; has had music used by the WWE, Major League Baseball and NASCAR to name a few; and appeared in the motion picture Rock Star. 2018 will mark a new chapter in Myles¹ career as he will be releasing his long-awaited debut solo album Year Of The Tiger. The album is a whole new direction for Myles creatively and showcases the talent that has made him one of the premiere frontmen in modern music today.

John Connolly of Sevendust/Projected & The Chicago Open Air Festival

0

Welcome to the Nothing Shocking Podcast. On this weeks episode Bob talks about his experience with the Chicago Open Air Festival featuring Korn, Kiss, Rob Zombie, Godsmack, Steel Panther etc etc. It was a fantastic festival and I highly recommend everybody check it out next year.

Our guest this week is John Connolly from Sevendust as well as Projected. Projected has a new album out now called “Ignite My Insanity.” It’s a fantastic album featuring Vinnie Hornsby from Sevendust, Scott Phillips from Alter Bridge/Creed and E Rock from Tremonti.

Here’s the press release for the first video “Reload”

Coming on the heels of the recently released EPK and album announcement, Projected returns with the video for the debut single “Reload.” The video was produced, directed and edited by
Jamie Brown for Smoking Gun Productions and can be seen here: https://youtu.be/Y3dtoi4VZdw. The song comes from the band’s sophomore double-length release, Ignite My Insanity, scheduled for release on July 21st via Rat Pak Records. Thetwo-disc collection is now available for pre-order in various configurations at http://www.ratpakrecords.com/Projected as well as digitally via iTunes at: http://smarturl.it/IMIiTunes. Fans who pre-order the album via iTunes will receive an instant download of “Reload” with two subsequent downloads scheduled prior to the full-album release. Ignite My Insanity is the long awaited follow-up to the 2012 self-released debut album, Human from the band comprised of Sevendust guitarist John Connolly, Alter Bridge/Creed drummer Scott Phillips, Sevendust bassist Vinnie Hornsby and Tremonti guitarist Eric “E-ROCK” Friedman.

Ignite My Insanity features 21 all new tracks from Projected and continues to build upon the sound the band established with their debut. It is an album designed to resonate with fans from the member’s original projects and guaranteed to garner new fans along the way. From the melodic piano interlude of the opener “Strike” to the raucous ending of closer “Battlestations,” the new album takes the listener on a journey inside the minds of the band. Songs like “Six Feet Below,” “Gomorrah,” “Inhuman” and “Upside Down” are infectious rockers. The first single “Reload” is a frenetic composition that showcases the musicianship of these accomplished performers. Alter Bridge/Tremonti songwriter Mark Tremonti co-wrote “Rectify” and “Call Me The Devil” and Sevendust’s Morgan Rose co-wrote “Concede” with the band.

Projected formed in 2012 when longtime friends John Connolly (Sevendust), Vinnie Horsnby (Sevendust), Scott Phillips (Alter Bridge/Creed) and Eric “E-Rock” Friedman (Tremonti) decided to create some music together. While all members are successful in their mainstay bands, Projected afforded the members a chance to explore some different ideas musically. In September 2012, the band self-released their debut album Human and is currently looking for breaks in their respective schedules to bring the music to their fans in a live setting.

Three Years Hollow

0

Quad City natives Three Years Hollow have a brand new record out called “The Cracks” produced by Clint Lowery of Sevendust. Their hit single is called “Hungry” and each and every one of you should call your local radio stations and request that song, even if you own the album. They just got off the road with Saving Abel and are about to head right back out into the fire with Saliva.

Luckily for Jason and I front man Jose Urquiza and guitarist Tony Reeves made time to stop over for an in studio interview/podcast. We’ve known these guys since they were nothing more than a local band. We’ve got to watch them grow and to see them as basically equals to some of our favorite bands is pretty exciting for us, for them and for all their fans.

Zoiks! Online Interviews: Mark Tremonti of Creed, Alter Bridge and well Tremonti

2012 has been one of my favorite years in rock music. There have been so many great rock albums released, one of which is the side project from Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti, simply called Tremonti. The name of the album is “All I Was” and Mark really took the heavy up a notch. It’s a great album and once I saw them live I ended up liking the album that much more. Currently Tremonti has Wolfgang Van Halen covering bass duties which just adds a little bit more to the whole project. Recently I got the chance to chat with Mark and drummer Garrett Whitlock about the album, Wolfgang Van Halen, his experience listening to the new Van Halen album live in a tiny room at Eddie Van Halen’s house and by live I mean Van Halen played it live for him. We also chat about the new album and his experience with “That Metal Show.”

Zoiks! Online Interviews: John Connolly of Sevendust and Projected

All of us that are out there covering the music industry, whether it be bloggers or paid professionals, we all started out as fans. It’s important to be professional, but we should never lose that inner fan. I’ve been a Sevendust fan for as long as I’ve known they existed. I’m also a big fan of Alter Bridge’s music. So when I found out there was a band called Projected that was basically made up of the guys in Sevendust Alter Bridge and Creed, I jumped at the chance to cover it.

Between Sevendust and Alter Bridge there are five side projects, Slash & Myles Kennedy, The Tremonti Project, Call Me No One, Projected and Hello Demons Meet Skeletons (and I suppose we could count Creed to make six). Between those bands, they’ve released four albums and each album is fantastic, beginning to end. The album, “Human” by Projected was probably the most surprising of the bunch, for the simple fact that I knew Mark Tremonti and Clint Lowery were good singers, but I had no idea John Connolly had it in him.

Beginning to end “Human” is a high-energy solid hard rock album. I got the chance to chat with John Connolly about the new album “Human” which is out now, along with what’s going on with Sevendust and the possibility of a super tour with Alter Bridge Sevendust and a couple of the side projects…hey it could happen, I’m going to do everything in my power to get a rumor going.
