Taken on a Plane, Jesus’ Greatest Hits

0

Welcome to The I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast. This week Liam Neeson beats Jesus and they both beat the Lego Movie. Liam Neeson comes back with “Non-Stop” which is basically “Taken” on a plane. It’s dumb but fun. “Son of God” is a bunch of Hollywood types cashing in on Christians. They’ve released a terrible product knowing that Christians will buy it. “Son of God” is a repackaged version of the TV Miniseries “The Bible.” They’ve already seen it and they’re going out to see it again.

Oh and “Anchorman 2” was rereleased for a week and this time it was rated R.

You chose our Undisputed Classic this week and you chose David Fincher’s “Fight Club.” We broke rules number 1 and 2 and we talk about “Fight Club.”

In 1984 “Against All Odds,” “Repo Man” and “This is Spinal Tap” was released. Josh really hates “Against All Odds” and Bob and Sean like “This is Spinal Tap” and “Repo Man” is a movie I guess.

Trailers this week:

Dark House
The Double
Godzilla
Art of the Steal
Enemy

Josh and Bob watched a bunch of movies this week. “The Dallas Buyer’s Club,” “American Hustle,” “12 Years a Slave,” “Blue Jasmine,” “Nebraska” and more. At the end of the show we talk about these again.

Pompeii is Pomposterous

Welcome to The I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast. There wasn’t a whole lot going on in the theater so we did about a seven minute intro talking about random shit like the new “Fantastic Four” movie and an African American man taking a job from a white man, “Space Jam 2,” “The Raid” remake, the devil looking like Barack Obama. We also talk about Warner Bros ripping off “Veronica Mars” fans. There was a ridiculous poll regarding the new “Noah” movie coming out that asks people of faith if they would watch a “Noah” movie created in Hollywood? Finally Harvey Weinstein accuses Sean of not thinking for himself when he reviewed “August: Osage County.”

Yes there were movies that came out this week. “3 Days to Kill” continues Kevin Costner’s 2013/2014 come back, unfortunately the movie is not great. McG directed the film and it’s a dark comedy where Kevin Costner plays John Cusak. Why not just get John Cusak? “Pompeii” is Pomposterous. Since we didn’t have any good movies Bob and Sean argue over “Dallas Buyer’s Club.” Sean couldn’t see past Matthew McConaughey’s weight loss while Bob could. There wasn’t much more to talk about because well that was it.

Our undisputed classic is “The Professional.” Josh immediately decides it’s not an undisputed classic followed by Sean’s agreement. Bob liked the movie the most but not passionately enough to defend it. Then we discuss why people love this movie. Was it the style, the violence or the characters?

This week in 1984, well actually last week in 1984 “Footloose” came out and is an undisputed classic…although the soundtrack has outlived the movie. The remake didn’t work but largely because it’s impossible for a small town to isolate itself from the rest of the world. They should have done the remake in a third world country.

Our trailers this week are:

“Guardians of the Galaxy”
“In This Blood”
“Anchorman 2” Rated R
“The Sacrament”
“Legends of the Knight”

All Right, All Right, All Right and the Nominees Are…

Welcome to The I Hate Critics. The Golden Globes are over, as are the Critics Choice Awards, The Screen Actor’s Guild and the Oscars have made their nominations. We talk about it with excitement then unfortunately move onto “Devil’s Due,” “Ride Along,” “The Nut Job” and “Jake Ryan: The Shadow Recruit”

Our undisputed classic is “The Tree of Life.” Josh absolutely loves this movie, as does Sean. I’m kind of an idiot and I hate it for the exact same reason Josh and Sean love it…although they’d probably say I don’t get it.

This week in 1984 “The Buddy System” and “Scandalous” came out and then went away.

Our trailers this week are:

“Adult World”
“Anita”
“Californian Schemer”
“Mr. Peabody and Sherman”

2013 Year in Review: The Wolf of Wall Street & Grudge Match

0

Welcome to The I Hate Critics 2013 year in review. First we’re going to talk about Justin Bieber’s “Believe.” It was dumb so we moved on to the highly anticipated “Grudge Match.” Sean liked it!!!! “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” divides Sean and Josh. “The Wolf of Wall Street” pisses both Sean and Bob while Josh watched Keanu Reeve’s career flash before his eyes.

Anchorman 2 & American Hustle = Good For Movie Podcast

0

Welcome to The I Hate Critics Podcast. This week we talk about “Anchorman 2,” “American Hustle,” “Saving Mr. Banks” and for whatever reason “Walking with Dinosaurs.” “Anchorman 2” is one of the great comedies of 2013. “American Hustle” is one of the great movies of 2013. Sean ranks it very high and I (Bob) have it topping my list. Amy Adams deserves an Oscar, but the stupid Critics Choice didn’t even nominate her. Oh well. See this movie.

“Saving Mr. Banks” is a great movie, but if you are bothered by historical accuracy is a movie you should steer clear of, otherwise enjoy Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson. “Walking with Dinosaurs” might be the worst movie of 2013…keep in mind Sean hasn’t seen “Canyons.”

Our Undisputed Classic was “Lawrence of Arabia.” With the passing of Peter O’Toole we thought it only be appropriate to talk about his best work and arguably one of the best acting performances of all time. Josh is very passionate about the film and Sean said there really is something to seeing it on a big screen that brings it to life. The verdict? It’s an undisputed classic.

In 1983 Joel Schumacher gave us “D.C. Cab” starring Adam Baldwin and Mr. T. Is there anything else I need to say?

Our Trailers are:

“The Polar Bear Movie”

“Welcome to Yesterday”

“22 Jump Street”

“Blended”

“Transcendence”

“The Grand Budapest Hotel”

“Expendables 3”
