Welcome to this weeks episode of the I Hate Critics Podcast. This week we have four new movies. 10 Cloverfield Lane came completely out of left field and was an entertaining experience. The Brother’s Grimsby and The Perfect Match had less than impressive openings and The Young Messiah came out.
There’s no top five this week.
Our Undisputed Classic is The Last Temptation of Christ
In 1986 Gung Ho
Captain American 3: Civil War
Welcome to this weeks episode of the I Hate Critics Podcast. This week we had three new movies. There was The Choice which I think is based on a Nicolas Sparks book but I could be mistaken…I wasn’t paying attention. Then there was Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. Finally The Coen Brothers are back with another gem Hail, Caesar!
Our Top Five this week is 40 year old movies because Sean just turned 40. Some of the movies turning 40 include Rocky, Taxi Driver, Network, All the President’s Men, Carrie, Marathon Man, Bad News Bears, The Outlaw Josey Wales and more.
Our Undisputed Classic is Raising Arizona
In 1986 F/X and Hannah and Her Sisters Came Out.

Independence Day: Resurgence
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
10 Cloverfield Lane
Secret Life of Pets
God’s of Egypt

Women are under paid in Hollywood
This week only one new movie came out and it was “Hot Pursuit” starring Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara. It’s not a great movie but that mixed with a series of articles lead us to the discussion of equal pay for women in Hollywood. We try to explain why they’re not paid equally but ultimately come back to the fact that they should be. It’s not just Hollywood, it’s all over the world, but why not start in Hollywood at least.
Our Undisputed Classic was actually a Cult Classic Guantlet that Sean laid down before Josh and I. We were tasked to check out the Netflix Cult Classic section and each check out a movie for the first time. Sean loved “Goon,” I appreciated and “Reanimator” and Josh loathed “Wet Hot American Summer” despite the fact that both Sean and I love the flick.
1985 – Nothing of note came out in 1985
Fifty Shades of Gray Honest Trailer
Human Centipede 3
Magic Mike XXL
Ricki & the Flash
Avengers Age of Ultron has finally been released. Josh and I watched it with a very critical eye. The action was unintelligible, the dialogue was not strong, the story line connecting all these movies together has major holes in it. Then Sean, our resident film critic managed to watch the movie for what it was, a summer blockbuster that is a lot of fun. You say tomato I say…this doesn’t work as well when you type it out.
Nathan Rabin has been canned by The Dissolve
Robert Downey Jr shits on indie film.
Mae Whitman passed over in “Independence Day 2”
The Baltimore Riots and “The Purge”
Our Does it Hold Up segment was inspired by Bruce Jenner. We took a look at Hedwig and the Angry Inch and The Crying Game. Hedwig and the Angry Inch is truly one of the great rock musicals of all time while the offensive marketing campaign really ruins The Crying Game experience.
1985 – Chuck Norris is Chuck Norris in Code of Silence. But it would have been awesome if he was in Gymkata. Anthony Edwards made Gotcha and Johnny Depp did Private Resort.
Fifty Shades Darker
The Irrational Man
You know what doesn’t get old? Marvel movies. Avengers Age of Ultron comes out today. To celebrate we take a trip down memory lane and talk about all of the Marvel movies. This is a must listen if you want to hear a fan boy talk passionately about comic book movies.
“The Incredible Hulk”
“Iron Man 2”
“Captain America: The First Avenger”
“Iron Man 3”
Thor 2: A Dark World”
“Captain America 2: Winter Soldier”
“Guardians of the Galaxy”
