On this episode of I Hate Critics we’ve got three new movies: Magic Mike XXL, Terminator Genisys, Me & Earl & the Dying Girl. Both Sean and I loved Magic Mike XXL, it was a lot of fun. It kind of makes you want to be a male stripper. The joy they had making this movie comes back off the screen. Shelby and Beth were having fun as well. Me & Earl & the Dying Girl is completely awesome. It’s essentially The Fault in Our Stars done properly. Terminator Genisys is fun but that pisses Josh off because it should be more serious and not fun. I’m paraphrasing because Josh isn’t here to defend himself.
Our Undisputed Classic is Donnie Darko. In sticking with our time travel theme (not our male stripper theme) we went with Donnie Darko and it’s a movie that is just amazing and if you mix the book in with it is even better.
In 1985 Back to the Future came out. The biggest movie of 1985. $200 million in 1985, that’s amazing.
Our trailers this week are:
Secret in their Eyes
Welcome to The I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast. This week we have two new movies to talk about. There’s another Nicolas Sparks movie, which is basically his greatest hits. I was expecting Sean to be meaner to it. Instead he was meaner to “Woman in Gold.”
Ryan Reynolds is completely miscast in his role in “Woman in Gold.” I love that Ryan Reynolds is always trying to take roles outside the box, but when you do that it doesn’t always work. Not to mention that there is a lot of fat on this movie and would clearly work better as a documentary.
Don’t forget to pick which fantasy team to throw your support behind. Currently I’m in the lead with over $200,000,000 earned to Sean and Josn’s $0.
Our Undisputed Classic is the sappy “An Affair to Remember.” Josh was able to put himself in his parents or grand parents mind set and enjoy the film while I resisted that possibility and found myself bored. That said if I described the movie to you you’d think it’s pretty good.
In 1985 “Ladyhawke,” “Cat’s Eye,” “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” and “Fraternity Vacation.” Now I love teen sex comedies more than most but “Fraternity Vacation” is just disgusting to me. The women in the movies don’t even have characters. They just show their boobs and then disappear. That doesn’t make the other movies I like ok, but this one is just too misogynist for me. It’s amazing Tim Robbins went on to have a career after this.
Burying the Ex
Me & Earl & The Other Girl
Human Centipede 3

This week “Nightcrawler” came out. Sean and Josh loved it, I hated it but for the same reasons they loved it, so at worst it’s effecting. It’s a satire on capitalism and it will piss you off. In my opinion character’s like this are more evil than serial killers and other murderers.
The other movie to come out this week was “Before I Go To Sleep.” Sean’s critic friend referred to this movie as “50 First Dates” as a thriller and it probably would have been better if Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore were in it instead of Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman.
Our Undisputed Classic is “Peeping Tom.” It’s a movie that sticks with you. I didn’t like it the first time I saw it and the more I get away from it the more I like it. Sean has it among his favorite movies of all time. You should really check this movie out.
1984 – “The Killing Fields” Josh failed the sleep test and Sean thinks it’s over rated.
Hunger Games: The Mocking Jay Part One
Taking of Deborah Logan
Welcome to the I Hate Critics Podcast. We watched two movies this week, Old Man Washington’s “The Equalizer,” and the family friendly “Box Trolls. “The Equalizer” over performed because it made more money than it’s worth and “The Box Trolls” under performed in that it was worth way more than it made.
This week Josh defends “Man on Fire” another Old Man Washington film. He loves the movies potential, Sean and I hate it because of it’s potential to be good.
In 1984 three some what small movies came out: “Heartbreakers,” Irreconcilable Differences,” “The Wild Life” which was written by Cameron Crowe
Big Hero 6
The Wedding Ringer
Pauly Shore Stands Alone
Honest Trailer – The Fault in Our Stars
