Best 80’s Horror Films & Tomorrowland

“Tomorrowland” came out this week and while successful wasn’t quite the box office juggernaut I was hoping for. The movie itself has a lot of promise but just falls short. Older kids to teenagers may enjoy the movie more so than adults, but it’s an incomplete movie that’s easy to pull a part. From a Madding Crowd nearly puts the podcast to sleep.

The remake of “The Poltergeist” came out this week as well and is one of the worst remakes thus far. They more or less just took the name and put it on a low rank modern PG-13 horror film. They tried to hard to be different from the original while not being original if that makes sense. It was more or less a money grab all around.

We asked our audience their top five 80’s Horror films of all time. “The Thing,” “The Shining,” “The Poltergiest,” “Evil Dead 1 & 2,” and “Nightmare on Elm Street” led the way while “They Live,” “Cannibal Holocaust,” “The Gate,” “Cujo” and “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer” were mentioned as well.

Our Undisputed Classic was “The Poltergeist.” All three of us really enjoyed the movie. It’s definitely a classic. We debate the PG rating and whether Tobe Hooper gets enough credit for this classic.

Three Grown Men Talking about One Direction (in 3D)

Welcome to the I Hate Critics Movie Podcast. This week was all about One Direction. Three guys in their mid thirties talking about One Direction. There were other movies that came out this week, but I already forgot what they were. Unfortunately during the podcast we mention that the One Direction movie will get number one at the box office. Unfortunately for us, but fortunately for the human race Lee Daniels The Butler took down another week at number one making us incorrect…oh well.

Josh Adams from The Film Fan Perspective joins us again. Bob and Josh see a bunch of movies. Bob saw Maniac (thumbs up) and On the Road (eyes closed) and Josh dumps on Bruce Campbell and the original Evil Dead while enjoying the remake. He also checked out Warm Bodies and The Man with the Iron Fists.

Our 30 Year old movies are Death Stalker, Nightmares, Mortuary & Stryker. That may or may not be one movie.

We have a contest this week. Sean, Bob and Josh came up with six actors and we want you to come up with a tagline, plot or story line involving the six actors.

Selena Gomez
Jon Bon Jovi
Kristy Swanson

I Hate Critics Ep. 3 – Broken City

Welcome to the “I Hate Critics” Podcast, a movie podcast. This week we discuss “Broken City.” In addition we take a look at the trailer for the upcoming film “Spring Breakers.” We both watched Sam Raimi’s 30 minute film that lead to the financing of “The Evil Dead” called “Within the Woods.” As always we talk about everything and get a little perverted.

Head over to our Facebook page and tell us who you like better Stallone or Schwarzenegger.

We don’t really hate critics, but why do you?
