Chris Rock Wins the #Oscars

0

Welcome to I Hate Critics Bonus Oscar Coverage podcast. This years Oscars leaves me strangely satisfied. The nominations weren’t diverse at all and it seemed like there was a lot wrong going in then Chris Rock stepped in and saved the day. Not only that but I think we all learned a little bit tonight. We learned more about modern racism, sexism. We learned about a culture that promotes sexual abuse towards women and we learned about climate change and none of us appear to be resisting any of that. More of us than normal seem to be accepting these as lessons we need to learn. Chris Rock’s performance tonight was my favorite ever Oscar host performance…well done Chris Rock.

As for the awards, Stallone lost, but so did Rocky. He doesn’t need to win to be the best. Aside from that just about every movie took home something so good for them. Mad Max won all the technical awards, The Revenant won a couple of the big awards and Spotlight won Best Picture. A24 took home three awards, we love that company and we’re super happy for them.

Robert DeNiro & Our 3 Year Anniversary

0

Welcome to this weeks episode of the I Hate Critics Podcast. This week we had four new movies. The Oscar nominated Danish Girl, the forgettable The Boy and The Fifth Wave and Dirty Grandpa which should have been really funny and obscene but instead it was just obscene and unfunny…but it gave us an excuse to make it a Robert DeNiro week.

Mean Streets

Our Top Five this week is favorite Robert DeNiro movies. We talk Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Deer Hunter, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, Goodfellas, Casino and many more.

Our Undisputed Classic this week is Mean Streets, the movie that started it all for Martin Scorsese and Robert DeNiro.

In 1986 My Chauffeur and The Image Maker came out.

Ant-Man & Trainwreck

0

On this episode of I Hate Critics we’ve got two new movies: Ant-Man came out this week opposite Trainwreck, Minions, Jurassic World, Inside Out. It still managed to bring in $60 million which people are saying is good bad, but really it’s pretty good. It’s not Guardians of the Galaxy, but who would really complain about a $60 million opening. The other movie to come out was the Amy Schumer/Judd Apatow vehicle Trainwreck. Ant-Man was fine, but Trainwreck is the best comedy of the year so far. If you’re a fan of Amy Schumer and or Judd Apatow then Trainwreck is a must see.

Our Undisputed Classic is Breakfast at Tiffany’s. We spend the whole segment bad mouthing women who like this film. Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a highly racist film that we were unable to get into or understand why people like.

In 1985 The Coca Cola Kid starring Eric Roberts came out and we probably spent more time on this movie than any of the other movies.

Our trailers this week are:

Sisters
Suicide Squad
The Fantastic Four
The Revenant
Joy
