RIP Robin WIlliams

Welcome to the I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast Bonus episode. Rest in Peace to Robin Williams. It really is quite amazing the impact Robin Williams had on the world. There are few people in this world that had that affect on everybody.

“Expendables 3” came out this week and was a dud. While most critics agree that it is a bad movie, it still sucks that it leaked out online several weeks before the release causing the movie to fail miserably. It’s disappionting. Also out this week was “The Giver” which also bombed. Sean was ok with the movie while Josh hated it. “Let’s Be Cops” was the biggest new release of the week and “What If” was probably the best new release of the week.

Our “Undisputed Classic” is “Singing in the Rain.” I wasn’t all excited about checking this movie out, but I was pleasantly surprised by how watchable this movie it. I was expecting cheese and an out of date movie, but it was very interesting.

In 1984 Clint Eastwood’s “Tight Rope.” Also released was “The Woman in Red” & “Dreamscape.”

Welcome to the I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast Bonus episode. We’ve got SIX new movies to talk about this week, but really only one matters and that’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Holy Shit was that fun. We also talked about “Wish I Was Here,” “Get On Up,” “Snowpiercer,” “A Most Wanted Man” all of which the majority of us found good to great. Then there was #Sharknado2.

This weeks Does It Hold Up is “The Dark Knight Rises.” This is the movie that started the podcast and once again I (Bob) was right.

We skipped 1984 because we had seven movies to talk about.

Captain America: The April’s Record

0

Welcome to The I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast. Our March Movie Madness has made it to the final with “Almost Famous” squaring off against “Field of Dreams.” This week saw the film “Captain America: The Winter’s Soldier” destroyed the April box office record with over 100 million in its first weekend. Not only that but it’s probably the best “Avengers” related movie yet. It’s kind of like a “Bourne” movie.

We also talk about “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and rip on Wes Anderson fans. Sean by chance saw “Enemy” at our cheap theater and called it the best movie he saw this week…so I went and saw it and we’ll discuss again next week.

Our Undisputed Classic this week is “Eraserhead.” This isn’t really a movie but more or less several different genius images with no real story. But it clearly inspired a generation of music video directors.

In 1984 “Moscow on the Hudson” and “Up the Creek” came out. Only Sean saw those movies and for whatever reason he spent the whole segment talking about boobs.

Anchorman 2 & American Hustle = Good For Movie Podcast

0

Welcome to The I Hate Critics Podcast. This week we talk about “Anchorman 2,” “American Hustle,” “Saving Mr. Banks” and for whatever reason “Walking with Dinosaurs.” “Anchorman 2” is one of the great comedies of 2013. “American Hustle” is one of the great movies of 2013. Sean ranks it very high and I (Bob) have it topping my list. Amy Adams deserves an Oscar, but the stupid Critics Choice didn’t even nominate her. Oh well. See this movie.

“Saving Mr. Banks” is a great movie, but if you are bothered by historical accuracy is a movie you should steer clear of, otherwise enjoy Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson. “Walking with Dinosaurs” might be the worst movie of 2013…keep in mind Sean hasn’t seen “Canyons.”

Our Undisputed Classic was “Lawrence of Arabia.” With the passing of Peter O’Toole we thought it only be appropriate to talk about his best work and arguably one of the best acting performances of all time. Josh is very passionate about the film and Sean said there really is something to seeing it on a big screen that brings it to life. The verdict? It’s an undisputed classic.

In 1983 Joel Schumacher gave us “D.C. Cab” starring Adam Baldwin and Mr. T. Is there anything else I need to say?

I Hate Critics Ep. 31 – The Marathon Podcast: We’re The Millers, Elysium, Sharknado 2, Expendables 3, The Conjuring, To The Wonder and many more

0

Welcome to the I Hate Critics Podcast, a movie podcast. Sometimes four movies come out in one week and that very same week lots of movie news comes out. We’re the Millers, Percy Jackson, Planes and Elysium all came out the same week. At the same time Sylvester Stallone throws Bruce Willis under the bus while announcing Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson and Antonia Banderas are joining the cast of Expendables 3.

If that isn’t enough for you, we have a title for Sharknado 2. Bob and Sean disagree on Terrence Malick’s To The Wonder. Sean thinks it may be the best movie of 2013 while Bob doesn’t understand why Malick bothered to make it. Robert DeNiro is working with Meryl Streep again, Sean doesn’t seem to care and Bob can’t wait for Grudge Match.

This week we were joined by Joshua Adams from the Film Fan Perspective.
