Jurassic World is still destroying the box office but that didn’t stop Inside Out from being the second biggest Pixar opening of all time. Inside Out was loved by all three of us. It was so much that both Sean and Josh are considering calling it the best movie of the year so far. That’s saying a lot with Cinderella, Ex Machina, and Love and Mercy already out this year not to mention Mad Max: Fury Road, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Jurassic World kicking ass as blockbusters.
Dope is an indie film that did well on the festival circuit. Sean really enjoyed the movie and recommends it. Then there was Love and Mercy, the Brian Wilson story. What an intriguing movie. It may be my favorite film of the year thus far. Needless to say it was a good week for movies. If you don’t know the Brian Wilson story then this is a must see, hell even if you know it you’ll be impressed…I say that as someone who knew the story.
We asked our audience their top five favorite Pixar movies. Among those chosen was Up, Wall-E, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, Toy Story 3, Cars, The Incredibles etc.
Our Undisputed Classic was “Being John Malkovich.” This is one of the more underrated films of the 90’s. It’s beloved and it holds up but it’s become second fiddle to movies like Pulp Fiction and The Big Lebowski and it doesn’t need to. It’s a phenomenal movie with phenomenal performances.
1985 – Cocoon, Lifeforce, Return to Oz
