This week we’ve got two new movies this week. He Named me Malala is a great documentary by David Guggenheim about the insanely brave Malala. Pan also came out but nobody seemed to notice. I’m not even sure the filmmakers realized they were making a movie. It is however Hugh Jackman’s birthday so Happy Birthday Hugh, here’s the biggest bomb of your career.
Rather than an Undisputed Classic we decided to challenge ourselves by checking out a Hugh Jackman film we hadn’t seen which included Prisoners, X-Men: Days of Future Past and Fountain.
In 1985 we take on Sliver Bullet & Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins
Our trailers this week are:
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Welcome to The I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast. This week we only have one new movie so we had to improvise. “Furious 7” the latest installment of the Sean’s a hypocrite for liking these movies but not Adam Sandler movies franchise. And yes he loved “Furious 7.” That’s besides the point because we wrapped up our March Movie Madness Tournament.
Some asshole had gone and ruined the tournament by voting for every movie enough times to make them all dead locked, so we finished off the tournament without you because of one dick. “Inside Llewyn Davis” knocked out “Rocky IV” and “They Live” lived longer than “The Shining.” Unfortunately for our Cinderella story “Inside Llewyn Davis” was too strong and put an end to “They Live’s” run.
Which then brings us to our next competition. Fantasy Summer Blockbusters. There are two ways to play along at home. The first and easiest way is to latch on to one of the Critics teams. Whichever one of us wins we’ll pull the names of everybody that chose that critic out of a hat and the winner will receive an I Hate Critics mug along with a package of Rockin’ & Roastin’ coffee. There are only three mugs in the world, yours would be the fourth. The other way to play along at home is to have your own draft starting with “Furious 7” all the way through Aug 31st. On August 31st the contestant with the most money wins. If you start your own league share it with us and we’ll happily provide updates on the podcast.
Sean’s Team: Avengers: Age of Ultron, Minions, Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Fantastic Four, Paul Blart 2, Spy, San Andreas, Straight Outta Compton & Magic Mike XXL
Josh’s Team: Inside Out, Ant Man, Ted 2, Terminator Genisys, Pixels, Paper Towns, Hot Pursuit, Aloha, Ricki & the Flash, Sinister 2
Bob’s Team: Jurassic World, Furious 7, Tomorrowland, Pitch Perfect 2, Poltergeist, Trainwreck, The Longest Ride, Insidious 3, Masterminds, Vacation
Our Undisputed Classic is the car chase flick “Vanishing Point.” All three of us would gladly watch “Vanishing Point” over the “Fast and the Furious” films. Quentin Tarantino recommended this movie to us and we fell for it hook line and sinker. He didn’t personally recommend it to us but we’ve heard him talk about it a lot.
Then we defended “They Live” because why not? John Carpenter made a masterpiece. It’s so much fun. Everything that is good about it is great and everything that is bad makes it so much better. Roddy Piper excels at what we can only assume was supposed to be Kurt Russell’s role. If Kurt Russell would have starred it’d have been good, but with Roddy Piper it’s a classic.
In 1985 “Alamo Bay” starring Ed Harris came out and it’s not a very good one.

Welcome to the I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast. Wait what’s this? Two episodes in one day? Yes, It’s our bonus Thanksgiving episode. This year we reached out to three of my favorite podcasts to help us out.
Pod on Pod (www.podonpod.com) – This podcast reviews others podcasts. There are hundreds of thousands of podcasts out there and these guys help pick out the good ones for you. I found out about them when they reviewed the Ivy Envy podcast and have since subscribed to their show.
Handicap This (www.handicapthis.com) – Mike and Tim’s podcast “The G.I.M.P. Show” has quickly become one of my favorites. Corey Fineran told me to check it out. I had no idea what it was and I just found myself falling in love with the show it’s both informative and entertaining.
The Awesome 80’s Podcast (www.theawesome80s.net) – This podcast celebrates the 80’s. Josh, Sean and I grew up in the 80’s as did Michael and Lawrence. Their show is a lot of fun. Each episode use to be about a stand alone movie, but 200 plus episodes in they’ve expanded to interviews and beyond. It’s a fun show be sure to check it out.
The movies we’re thankful for:
Pod on Pod: “Mallrats,” “My Fair Lady” Honorable Mentions: “The Godfather” & “The Outlaw Josey Wales”
Josh: “The Road,” “High Fidelity”
Handicap This: “Music Within”
Bob: “Fed Up,” “My Cousin Vinny”
The Awesome 80’s Podcast – Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, John Candy and aging celebrities on social media that have nothing better to do than talk with them.

Welcome to “The I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast.” This week we celebrate the life and career of Philip Seymour Hoffman. He was one of the greatest actors of all time. We celebrate the following films:
“Synecdoche, New York”
“Mission Impossible III”
“The Big Lebowski”
“The Talented Mr. Ripley”
“Along Came Polly”
“Charlie Wilson’s War”
“Punch Drunk Love”
“Monuments Men” also came out this week with an amazing cast, George Clooney, Matt Damon, John Goodman, Cate Blanchett and Bill Murray. The cast was amazing the movie was just all right. “Vampire Academy” was a waste of time. Another stupid vampire movie trying to reach the teen girls and the 30 something moms…grow up people. Then there’s “The Lego Movie” and Sean loves it and Josh is disappointed.
Josh watched “Shame” to check out Steve McQueen’s work. Sean didn’t like, Josh was affected by it and then they go on to argue over how hot Michael Fassbender is. We also talk about “The Apartment” starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacClaine and Don Jon.
Our trailers this week are:
“Hector and the Search for Happiness”
