Welcome to this weeks episode of the I Hate Critics Podcast. This week we have five new movies. Three middle aged white guys talk about Allegiant, the third movie in the Divergent series. Also released was Miracles From Heaven, The Bronze, and Anomalisa…oh and Pee Wee’s Big Holiday.
The Top Five this week is best third movies in a series.
In Lieu of the Undisputed Classic we did the Netflix challenge again this week.
In 1986 – nothing to note.
This week we’ve got several new movies. Diane Keaton remade every other movie she’s made over the last ten years with Love the Coopers. Sean wasn’t thrilled. The 33 is a Lifetime like movie that made it to the theaters. It’s pretty good, but it’s not a very gritty story…it’s just warm and fuzzy. Suffragette was an ok that was supposed to be great about the early feminist movement. My All American is a Christian film that also happens to be the best film of the weekend. It’s Rudyesque but the direction is a little amateur. Knock Knock is the new Eli Roth film that is so bad it’s amazing. Keanu Reeves redefines bad acting. It’s actually so bad that it’s good. I Smile Back is the new Sarah Silverman movie. It’s not a comedy what so ever. Silverman is great in it, the movies great. It’ll probably end up on the outside looking in come award season, but that shouldn’t take anything away from this movie.
Top Five this week is Feminist movies.
For our Undisputed Classic this week is “Brian’s Song.”
In 1985 Once Bitten
Our trailers this week are:
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2
Thanks for listening to the I Hate Critics Podcast. This week we take on five new movies. The big movie this week is Brad Pitt and “Fury.” Josh and Sean both like it, but more on a graphic novel level than a war movie level, but Josh finally gets on the board in our fantasy game. The best movie of the weekend is the Guillermo del Toro produced kids movie “Book of Life.” Hopefully this movie can stick around during Oscar season.
“Best of Me” based on a Nicolas Sparks book is so bad Sean loves it. Jason Retiman’s “Men, Women, and Children” is actually pretty good. Sean was floored by it. Then there is a Christian movie with the cast of “Night Court” called “Matter of Faith.”
Our Defend It movie is “Summer of Sam.” Sean defends this against other critics. Josh and Bob for the most part watch it for the first time. Josh loved it and Bob just liked it.
In 1984 there are some forgettable movies and “The Razor’s Edge” with Bill Murray
In the Heart of the Sea
Thanks for listening to the I Hate Critics Podcast. This week we take on four new movies and the number one new movie this week is “Dracula Untold.” I don’t know why, but people went and saw that. Also there was “Alexander and the adjectives,” “The Judge,” which disappoints despite Robert Downey Jr and Robert Duvall.
Our undisputed classic this week is 1931’s “Dracula.” We just can’t get enough of these Dracula movies…it must be Halloween.
