Ninja Turtles Beat Off Into the Storm

Welcome to the I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast Bonus episode. Rest in Peace to Robin Williams. Sadly when we recorded Robin Williams was still with us and now he no longer is. We didn’t get to spend time honoring his life and career, but he will be missed and next week we will do definitely do just that.

This week “Ninja Turtles” came out and ‘beat off’ the competition including “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Into the Storm,” “100 Foot Journey,” and “Step Up All In.” Sean is offended by all of the new movies this week except “Step Up All In.” Josh did like “100 Foot Journey,” but Sean slept through it.

We’re introducing a new segment called “Defend It” and Josh is defending “Matrix: Reloaded.” I don’t know who won the fight, but I really like this segment.

In 1984 “Red Dawn,” “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai,” “Cloak & Dagger” came out. I need to revisit “Red Dawn” that was a good one.

…And So it Goes, Brett Ratner is Dumb

0

Welcome to the I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast Bonus episode. We’ve got three new movies in “Lucy,” “Hercules” and “And So It Goes.” All of which are sort of dumb, but “And So It Goes” takes the cake. But Sean checks out “Begin Again” and claims that Josh undersold it last week. Best movie of the year? Maybe.

This weeks Undisputed Classic “Melancholia.” Lars Van Trier is an interesting man and director. You don’t have to like his films, but for the most part you’re going find his films fascinating.

In 1984 Prince came out with the musical masterpiece “Purple Rain.” He’s almost as electrifying as the Rock according to Sean. Yes music/artistic royalty was compared to pro wrestling royalty. Sean doesn’t read these. Then two other movies came out but who gives a shit.

Tweet our friends at @awesome80spod and let them know you want them to talk about #PurpleRain from @h8critics.

A Million Ways Bob Could Kick Denzel’s Ass

Welcome to the I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast. This week Sean and Josh see “Maleficent” and Sean and I see “A Million Ways to Die in the West.” The verdict is Jolie good, MacFarlane bad (Sean still thought he was funny). I’m not sure when, but at some point in the show I claim I can kick Denzel Washington’s ass…not sure how that even came up.

The Undisputed Classic is back and this week it’s arguably the best western of all time “Once Upon A Time in the West.” All three of love this movie.

In 1984 “Once Upon a Time in America” and “Star Trek III” came out.

Welcome to The I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast. This week Aaron Paul tries to cash in on his “Breaking Bad” success by ripping off “Fast and the Furious” and taking all the fun out of it. In an attempt to not spend a dime Warner Bros released “Veronica Mars” in AMC theaters only and on demand. Despite the lack of interest Warner Bros has in it, the movie is pretty good…as good as the television show.

Tyler Perry’s career seems to take another step closer to the end, but lucky for him he’s loaded. With “Single Mom’s Club” he takes on the hot button issue of single moms. All they need is a man right? We took in two documentaries this week. Sean saw “The Secret Lives of Jean Seberg” which was the heart-breaking story of how the US government ruined this woman’s life. She was an actor from Iowa, became an activist for the Black Panthers and was ultimately destroyed by the FBI. Then Bob and Josh watched “As the Palaces Burn.” The film was about the rock band Lamb of God who were just filming a simple documentary to go along with their newest album when the lead single was arrested for murder in Croatia.

Our Undisputed Classic this week is “Tokyo Story.” Sean had ripped into Josh and I for not trying very hard, so Josh tried real hard and watched possibly one of the greatest films of all time

In 1984 nothing of substance came out so we talked about this unbelievable article about the making of the “Street Fighter” movie starring Jean Claude Van Damme. It was a fascinating article, check it out here. http://www.polygon.com/features/2014/3/10/5451014/street-fighter-the-movie-what-went-wrong
