Welcome to The I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast. We start the podcast off doing a recap of round two of our March Movie Madness tournament. In the news this week Joseph Gordon-Levitt will produce and star in a “Fraggle Rock” Movie. Chris Rock is penning a sequel to “Top Five.” South Korea is going to drop copies of “The Interview” into North Korea.
There’s a new “Divergent” movie out called “Insurgent.” As three thirty something year old males we hated it…well only Sean saw it but Josh and I have no interest in it. Josh is more interested in the next fan fiction story that’ll turn into the next mom sex book.
Sean insists that Sean Penn could kick my ass…he’s probably right. “The Gunman” is the new Sean Penn movie and it’s as Josh called it, a movie. If you’re going to the movie for Idris Elba, stay home, he’s in it for three movies. Then there is a religious movie called “Do You Believe” that Sean bought. It’s not the typical pandering piece of crap that keeps coming out every month. It’s an honest movie that is a little convenient, but it’s very cool about showing why somebody would have faith.
Our Undisputed Classic is the Robert Redford film “Three Days of the Condor.” This movie is a great, smart CIA thriller. It’s scary how accurate this movie ended up being. It is about as perfect as a CIA spy thriller can get.
1985 – The Last Dragon, Friday the 13th Part 5, Porky’s Revenge, and Baby Secret of the Lost Legend.
Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation
Avengers: Age of Ultron

This week “Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” came out and destroyed the box office. Neither Josh or Sean liked it, but we’re really not the audience for this movie or these series of movies. The movie we really wanted to talk about is “Whiplash.” In my opinion it is to jazz what “Rocky” is to boxing in that it’s good but that’s not what it looks like when someone is playing the drums. I liked it the least of the three but I still liked it. Sean loved it.
Sean and I watched “Foxcatcher,” we dabble with that a little bit but don’t get too into it. Sean saw “The Theory of Everything” and doesn’t think it needs to exist. Finally there’s Joe Berlinger’s “Whitey” which Sean calls the best documentary of the year. It’ll ruin your day, that’s for sure.
This weeks Undisputed Classic is Woody Allen’s “Manhattan.”
1984 – “Supergirl” and some Robert DeNiro/Meryl Streep movie
Pitch Perfect 2
Son of a Gun
Welcome to the I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast Bonus episode. We’ve got SIX new movies to talk about this week, but really only one matters and that’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Holy Shit was that fun. We also talked about “Wish I Was Here,” “Get On Up,” “Snowpiercer,” “A Most Wanted Man” all of which the majority of us found good to great. Then there was #Sharknado2.
This weeks Does It Hold Up is “The Dark Knight Rises.” This is the movie that started the podcast and once again I (Bob) was right.
We skipped 1984 because we had seven movies to talk about.
