The Martian and Sicario Two of the Years Best

This week we’ve got four new movies this week. The Martian, Sicario, The Walk and Hell and Back. The first three movies are fantastic. The Walk was released in IMAX only and it didn’t do very but it’s a fantastic film. We highly recommend checking it out. The Martian and Sicario also came out and they are two of the best films of the year so far. They’ll most likely be overlooked come award season which is unfortunate. Then there is Hell and Back which nobody knew about and Sean didn’t find funny.
Our Undisputed Classic is Solaris. Yes there are multiple Solaris films. We talk about the 1972 and the 2002 version and we had a really great conversation about these films and about Science Fiction in general.
In 1985 we take on Commando and Jagged Edge
Our trailers this week are:
Ip Man 3
The Revenant
Spectre

Transformers Like it Hot

Welcome to the I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast. So this week “Transformers 4” came out. It’s not a fun week for movie snobs. Sean had to see, God knows why Josh wasted the time and money to go see it. Apparently he loves this podcast more than I or he just likes to be angry. We did see a couple of other movies. Josh saw “Enemy” and he was super excited to talk about it.
This weeks Undisputed Classic is the Marilyn Monroe film “Some Like it Hot.” I call it a Marilyn Monroe film because her name is all over the cover, but really it’s a Tony Curtis and Jack Lemon film. Josh and Sean were quit to call it a classic. I was ok calling it a classic, but only if we’re going to treat movies like “Dumb and Dumber” and “Tommy Boy” etc etc like this 50 years from now.
In 1984 teenage boys were introduced to Tawny Kitaen. It took me another ten years, but i got there. “Bachelor Party” came out. Who cares that Tom Hanks was in this movie because Tawny Kitaen was the most beautiful woman in the world back in the 80’s and that’s all that mattered. Plus “Cannonball Run 2” and “Conan the Destroyer” came out.
