The Best Movie Twists of All Time

0

This week we’ve got three new movies. The Perfect Guy is an ok movie that could have been really good if it didn’t have to be politically correct. It tries to take two different lanes. On one hand the movie wants to be a serious movie about women putting up with abusive horrible men. In another lane is a campy thriller, however these lanes don’t work simultaneously and therefore it’s kind of a bad movie. 90 Minutes in Heaven is awful…even for a religious movie. The Visit however is actually a pretty good movie. M. Night Shyamalan is back. It has a great twist, even if you figure it out. It’s hilarious, it’s scary, it’s a lot of fun please go see this movie.

TheSixthSense

Our Top Five this week is twist endings. We talk about Psycho, Saw, Empire Strikes Back, Oldboy, Vertigo, The Usual Suspects, Memento, Primal Fear, Fallen, Fight Club, and The Sixth Sense.

Our Undisputed Classic is The Sixth Sense.

In 1985 After Hours, Agnes of God, Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters

Cool Hand Luke, It Follows, Get Hard, Home

Welcome to The I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast. In the news this week, Steven Spielberg to direct “Ready Player One.” “Fifty Shades Darker” gets a new director because author EL James was a pain in the ass. Hugh Jackman says he is done with “Wolverine” after the new movie. Idris Elba may play the next “Star Trek” villain. There’s a possible “Office” movie starring Ricky Gervais. Finally the website “Film Threat” funded by Chris Gore is doing a kick starter campaign to keep the site up and running.

The new movies this week include “Home,” “Get Hard,” and “It Follows.” Josh and I have kids and we got out of this movie, but Sean still had to go and it’s not bad. It’s not Pixar, but it’s got enough heart. Rent it for your kids when it comes out.

“Get Hard” is an awful movie with two really funny guys in it which makes it watchable, but hell I’d just watch Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell do the late night circuit. “It Follows” is the independent horror that got so much buzz that it got a wide release. It’s fine, we all appreciate it on different levels but it’s not a game changer by any means. It’s a meta movie and then some.

CoolHandLuke

Our Undisputed Classic is the Paul Newman classic “Cool Hand Luke.” For the first time Sean hadn’t seen the classic but Josh and I had. Josh and I loved it Sean liked it…a little. Sean’s wrong though.

1985 – Desperately Seeking Susan, King David, The Slugger’s Wife, Police Academy 2, The Care Bear Movie

RIP Spock – Live Long and Prosper

0

Welcome to the I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast. This week not much came out. Will Smith made a con movie called Focus. It’s fine, but like most cons, the con is sloppy and it’s not necessarily entertaining enough to take your focus off of the con like “Oceans 11.” Then there was a horror film called “Lazarus Effect” that Josh hated so much he called it potentially the worst movie he’s ever seen.

Spock

Our beloved/hated film critic Sean Patrick had a near death experience this week. He had a massive asthma attack that put him in the hospital for six days. At one point he actually lost the ability to breath and had to have machines breath for him for several hours. He’s back and he’s doing better so hopefully he stays that way.

We lost Leonard Nimoy famous as Spock from “Star Trek.” RIP Spock, “Live long in prosper.”

The Academy Award winning film “Still Alice” also got released in theaters. Julianne Moore won best actress. Sean thinks it was a great performance, but had three or four other performances he preferred. Sean compared it to a Lifetime movie with great acting.

Our Undisputed Classic is “The Sting.” Stars Robert Redford and Paul Newman make “The Sting” highly entertaining. Josh loved it the most, Sean tried to pick it a part and Bob enjoyed it.

1985 – Several movies came out. The best two movies are Woody Allen’s “Purple Rose of Cairo,” and John Cusak in “The Sure Thing.”
