This week we’ve got three new movies this week, No Escape, We Are Friends, Diary of a Teenage Girl. No Escape and We Are Friends are kind of let downs. No Escape is a movie where you just really never believe the main characters are in danger, but you’re supposed to…i.e. the main characters don’t die, you know they’re not gonna die but your supposed to be scared for them…it’s a let down. We Are Friends is ok, but Wes Bentley is so good in the movie that whenever he’s not on the screen you just want more Wes Bentley and since he’s a small character you spend most of the time wishing he were there which is not good for this movie.

EVERYBODY GO SEE DIARY OF A TEENAGE GIRL NOW. It’s a master piece of a movie and that really everybody should see. That said it’s borderline NC-17 and really uncomfortable…but it’s powerful

Our Top Five this week is Top 5 martial arts films. We talk about Kill Bill, Yojimbo, The Matrix, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Karate Kid, Drunken Master, Enter the Dragon, The Last Dragon, House of Flying Daggers…and Road House?

Our Undisputed Classic is Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

In 1985 American Ninja, Flesh and Blood, Compromising Positions
Our trailers this week are:

Rock the Kasbah,
Kill Your Friends
All Things Must Pass
Everything Will Be Fine

The Longest Ride & Human Centipede 3

Welcome to The I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast. This week we have two new movies to talk about. There’s another Nicolas Sparks movie, which is basically his greatest hits. I was expecting Sean to be meaner to it. Instead he was meaner to “Woman in Gold.”

Ryan Reynolds is completely miscast in his role in “Woman in Gold.” I love that Ryan Reynolds is always trying to take roles outside the box, but when you do that it doesn’t always work. Not to mention that there is a lot of fat on this movie and would clearly work better as a documentary.

Don’t forget to pick which fantasy team to throw your support behind. Currently I’m in the lead with over $200,000,000 earned to Sean and Josn’s $0.

Our Undisputed Classic is the sappy “An Affair to Remember.” Josh was able to put himself in his parents or grand parents mind set and enjoy the film while I resisted that possibility and found myself bored. That said if I described the movie to you you’d think it’s pretty good.

In 1985 “Ladyhawke,” “Cat’s Eye,” “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” and “Fraternity Vacation.” Now I love teen sex comedies more than most but “Fraternity Vacation” is just disgusting to me. The women in the movies don’t even have characters. They just show their boobs and then disappear. That doesn’t make the other movies I like ok, but this one is just too misogynist for me. It’s amazing Tim Robbins went on to have a career after this.

Burying the Ex
Me & Earl & The Other Girl
Human Centipede 3
Sinister 2

“Thor 2” The Coincidental World

Welcome to “I Hate Critics” The World’s Greatest Movie Podcast. The next installment of “The Avengers” franchise was released in “Thor: The Dark World.” While the movie is fine if you turn your brain off, it is full of holes that will make it hard for some to get past. Ultimately the movie was just a set up for the next “Avengers” film rather than a movie on its own. “About Time” is another film that came out this weekend. It’s a romantic comedy that is watchable for both genders.

The ‘Undisputed Classic’ is “Blade Runner.” Josh is a Ridley Scott nut and “Blade Runner” is probably his finest work. It’s certainly his biggest cult classic. Does that make it an “Undisputed Classic?” I think so, but who am I?

In movie news the original director for “Jane’s Got a Gun” is being sued. “The Wolverine” is getting a direct sequel, “Gravity” is the number one film in the history of October and David Cronenberg called Stanley Kubrick a hack…sort of.

Check out our trailers this week: “These Final Hours,” “Lone Survivor,” “Winter’s Tale,” “A Case of You,” “The Raid 2,” “Lucky McKee’s All Cheerleaders Die,” and “The Hobbit Desolation of Smaug.”
